Ken Tuckey (General Manager - China)

Quick Facts

Name: Kenneth R. G. Tuckey

Position at Multotec: GeneralManager – Multotec Screening Systems (Tianjin)

Started at Multotec: 1980 – 1988; 2001 – current date

Business Philosophy:

always lead, by example, from the front;

do not expect anyone to do anything you yourself won’t do;

personal integrity is “doing your very best, even when no one is observing or measuring you”.

Tuckey was born in Zimbabwe in January 1953 and did his schooling at Christian Brothers College, Kimberley and tertiary education at University of the Witwatersrand (now University of Johannesburg). Thus, although Zimbabwean by birth, his roots are very much deep in South Africa.

Upon emigrating from Zimbabwe in 1980, Tuckey joined Multotec as a sales engineer in screens. He subsequently progressed in the Group as product manager for GEA tube cleaning systems (no longer our product) and introduced MATO fasteners to the Group where he was the original product manager and salesman/technical specialist/repairman.

After handing over MATO he moved to Cyclones as marketing manager until 1988. During his stay at cyclones, he introduced, in the same fashion as he did with MATO, the sampling systems from Siebtechnik. Of note was the sale of the very first hammer sampler into SA, at Hlobane Colliery, KZN. Tuckey left Multotec to go to KHD Humboldt Wedag SA at the end of 1988.

Tuckey returned to Multotec from KHD in 2001, joining Wear Linings as marketing manager until December 2005 when Tuckey moved his house and home to Richards Bay and, as General Manager KZN, he established the Multotec branch there.

In 2008 he again moved his house and home back to Johannesburg to take over the International Business Development division which he ran as General Manager until January 2017 when he handed over BD to Tatiana Savelyeva and was promoted to General Manager of Multotec’s newly acquired business in China.

He now concentrates on China supported by Anton Vermeulen who is Multotec’s well-known screening systems expert.
